Open Driving With AXA Direct

AXA Direct have recently announced a brand new option on their car insurance policies.

Any driver who insures with AXA Direct can take advantage of the Open Driving option.

This means is that if you choose to pay an additional fee equivalent to 10% of the cost of your policy, any driver who is aged between 25 and 70, with a full licence will be allowed to drive your car.

This has a number of advantages; firstly there is no need to worry about named drivers. If you would like to make your car available to different drivers on a temporary basis, you don’t have to worry about getting in touch with us each time and having the changes noted on your insurance certificate.

The second big advantage is that these drivers will have the same level of cover as you. If you have decided to insure your car on a ‘Fully Comprehensive’ basis, then any of the other drivers who drive under our open driving option will also be covered with ‘Fully Comprehensive’ cover.

This is important because many drivers ARE allowed to drive other cars under their own insurance policy BUT this is usually on third party basis only. This means if they have an accident whilst driving your car and they are at fault then the damage to your car is not covered by insurance.

If other drivers use your car from time to time then our ‘Open Driving’ option is something you should consider as it offers the same cover to all drivers who use your car. It also means you don’t have the inconvenience of getting in touch each time you would like someone else to use your car.

Note; the Open Driving option is not available on high performance cars that have an ABI insurance group rating of 15 or higher.
